And suddenly... June! The little ones are counting down the days until vacation, you're thinking about how to organize the summer, and someone drops a bombshell in the parents' WhatsApp group:
"What about the end-of-year gift for the teacher?"
Yes, it's nice to give a gift, but sometimes it turns into a hassle: do we pool money? An individual gift? Another plant, a mug, a notebook?
If this year you want to break the cycle, we've got some different, meaningful, and most importantly, heartfelt ideas:
1. A "Teacher Survival Kit"
Add humor and lots of care: a box with chocolate, herbal teas, hand cream, a candle, a fun notebook, and a note that says "thank you for saving us from hundreds of questions, tears, and snot during the whole school year."
It always works!
2. A notebook with children's drawings and real quotes
Gather drawings, spontaneous phrases ("I like it when she tells me bravo," "she's very pretty," "she only yells a little bit"), paste them on colored paper or put them in a folder.
It will be a unique gift. And yes, she'll probably cry.
3. A video made with a phone
You don't need to be Spielberg. Ask each child to say a phrase like:

"Thank you for teaching me how to tie my shoelaces."

"What I like most is when you read us stories."
Put them together in a single video. Easy, emotional, and 100% original.
4. A self-portrait of each child on a T-shirt or tote bag
Give the little ones a sheet of paper to draw their faces. Digitize them and print all the drawings together on a T-shirt or cloth bag.
Imagine her walking in on the first day of September with the bag full of "her kids." Guaranteed success.
5. An "experience voucher"
Instead of giving things, give moments:

Voucher for a meal at her favorite restaurant.

Voucher for an afternoon at the movies (with popcorn).

Voucher for a massage.
You can give it with a nice letter, or with a small gift that hints at what's to come.
And most importantly…
Make sure it's clear it's made with love. It doesn't matter if it's big, small, bought, or homemade. What matters is the "thank you" behind every detail.
Because yes, educating is a wonderful madness... and whoever has accompanied our children throughout a whole school year deserves to end it with a smile (and a few tears too).
