Sugar-free homemade ice cream for kids

Injusa|
This summer, surprise your little one with homemade sugar-free ice cream: easy, healthy, and made as a team.

The heat arrives, along with long days and cravings for refreshing treats. And if there's one thing kids love in summer (and adults too) it's ice cream. But of course, when the days are long and there's ice cream daily... parents start scrutinizing the sugar, artificial colors, and unnatural ingredients often found in industrial ice creams.

The good news is that making homemade ice cream without added sugar is easier than it seems. Plus, it's a perfect activity to do with your children: they stir, choose ingredients, taste, get messy... and then they enjoy eating it twice as much!

Here are some ideas for preparing healthy, sugar-free, and colorful ice creams, perfect for children aged 1 to 6. And no, you don't need an ice cream maker or anything complicated. Just fruit, yogurt, some molds, and plenty of enthusiasm.

1. Creamy banana and strawberry ice cream

You only need:
– 2 very ripe bananas
– 1 cup of strawberries (can be frozen)
– A splash of plant-based drink or natural yogurt

Preparation:
Blend everything together until you get a creamy mixture. You can serve it as a "sorbet" immediately or put it into molds and freeze it in portions. The banana provides natural sweetness and the perfect texture.

2. Tropical mango and coconut popsicles

Ingredients:
– 1 ripe mango
– 1 plain unsweetened yogurt
– 2 tablespoons coconut milk

Mash the mango and mix it with the yogurt and coconut milk. If you wish, add small pieces of fruit before freezing. Serve in popsicle molds. A total taste of summer!

3. Mini yogurt popsicles with red berries

You need:
– Plain yogurt (can be Greek style)
– Red berries (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries…)
– A few drops of vanilla extract

Place the red berries at the bottom of the mold, add the yogurt mixed with vanilla, and freeze. A tangy and very refreshing touch.

Cooking with the little ones: more than just ice cream

Beyond the recipe, preparing ice cream with them is a way to stimulate their autonomy, improve their fine motor skills, and connect with you without rush. Let them choose which fruit to use, add the ingredients, mix them, and taste the mixture. Even if they make a mess, even if they deviate a bit from the recipe. They learn by playing, and that fits 100% with our view of childhood.

This summer, instead of just any ice cream, give your little one a homemade ice cream, with real fruit, no sugar, and prepared as a team. You'll see that they not only eat it, they brag about having made it themselves!
